Three-way catalytic converter failure and reasons

When the three-way catalytic converter fails, the following situations will occur.
1. The three-way catalytic converter is damaged by excessive temperature.
2. The external collision and extrusion of the three-way catalytic converter causes the ceramic core to be damaged, resulting in noise.
3. When high-pressure exhaust is required, the exhaust is not smooth due to blockage, which affects the intake air volume, which in turn leads to a drop in engine power, power drop, and inability to refuel.

Three-way catalytic converter failure and reason1

4. Because there is no catalytic effect of three-way catalytic rare metals, the exhaust emission exceeds the standard, and it will smell a strong pungent smell.
5. When the three-way catalytic converter starts to block, it will affect the normal operation of the sensor, so that the fuel injection, intake air and ignition cannot be accurately controlled, thereby increasing the fuel consumption.

The troubleshooting methods are as follows:
1. Check whether the voltage of the front and rear oxygen sensors of the three-way catalytic converter is the same. If it is common, it means that the three-way catalytic converter is damaged, that is, blocked, or the three-way catalytic converter is burned due to engine misfire.
2. Reach out to the exhaust pipe to see if you can feel the airflow. If you can't feel it, indicate the blockage.
3. Remove the air filter. Quickly step on the accelerator in place, and see black smoke coming out from the air filter.
4. The temperature difference between the front and rear of the temperature-sensing three-way catalytic converter is used to judge whether it is blocked.
5. The maximum speed cannot be reached during the test drive, and the acceleration is not good.The use of poor quality fuel, the car driving on the uneven road will lead to bump damage, the road congestion will lead to incomplete combustion of fuel, the impurity carbon deposition will cause the small holes of the carrier to block, and the temperature will be too high, which will cause the three-way catalytic converter to fail and fail.

Three-way catalytic converter failure and reasons2

The three-way catalytic converter needs to be repaired and replaced in time, otherwise it will not only cause the vehicle exhaust emissions to fail to meet the standards, but also cause the vehicle to spontaneously ignite.
